Computer Talk
Here is where we get serious about computers,
modems, cdroms, programs, web pages, and that always nasty topic of ISP
service. Without a doubt, that one question of which is the best ISP has
to be the most asked question in Columbus computer-land, just ahead of
whether a person's system can be upgraded. As of Saturday, November 29, 2003, the following services are ranked by TheLoneGunman--

These are not all of the internet services available to Columbus
residents, but are the ones most well known in the area. Some, such as Bignet
and GMI, bought or merged with local companies. Unfortunately, as is more
frequent than the industry would like to admit, the customers who fed the local
businesses experience a serious drop in service and/or support when their
provider goes to the big leagues.
It's a sad commentary on the culture of the ISP sector that the personal
attention and intense customer oriented philosophy of new local businesses is
sold off when a merger or sale pops up. Loyalty should be a two way street in
any business, especially a small, locally owned startup, and should be one thing
money can't change.
